Fighting Fear

Happy International Women’s Day. Yesterday was  a wonderful reminder to go after what we want and fight past our fears… as our team of women stand behind us.

I spent a long time overcome by fear and worried about what others were thinking of me. It’s human nature and unfortunately we all do it! However, I have FINALLY gotten to a place where I am able to recognize how terrible these notions are. Fear can really hold us back.

“Fear is a manipulative emotion that can trick us into living a boring life”

We can not give up on the things we want in life because comprise is easier than the work AND time you will have to invest. It is really hard to say yes to challenges and even harder to say yes to things that scare us but how incredible would it be if we all started living life a little bigger than before?! How amazing would it be if we weren’t afraid to fail? If those poisonous ideas that creep in our minds telling us we aren’t good enough or to stop before it becomes “too big”.. Just died!

I have ALOT of fears. Which sometimes pollute my head with false ideas of things I’ve literally created in my mind, and I KNOW I’m not the only one.

We have to collectively stop talking ourselves out of good things (GREAT things) because of FEAR.

We have to get out of our own way. So many of our fears or “set backs” come from US. Come from the ideas that our imaginations have created. I think we owe ourselves the gift of going after things. Because the reality of all of this is if you are truly called to something….that calling will never leave you. You can run from it for 10 years and on that tenth year it will come crashing into your world, because you’re meant for it. You simply wouldn’t have that desire in your heart if you weren’t. The doors will open and continue to open until you take that leap of faith and jump away from your fear.

10 year old Brooke would have done absolutely anything to be an actress to tell stories and to entertain. When I  put that dream aside and started pursuing things that I felt were far more “realistic” acting opportunities came knocking on my door and as I continued to push them aside out of FEAR…  I had no shot at letting 10 year old Brooke down, it just wasn’t going to happen.

Make the choice, take the risks, jump into the unknown, say YES, say NO, be the one to go after it. Show up for yourself every single day.. It is the LEAST we can do.

XOXO,

Brooke
